
Caravel Group acquires International Maritime Institute
The group will use IMI's capabilities to improve training for its 28,000 employees.
Hong Kong-based The Caravel Group has acquired the International Maritime Institute (IMI), a maritime academy located in Noida, India, to boost maritime talent training and innovation.
“Through this acquisition, The Caravel Group is making a long-term investment in the education and development of maritime professionals and creating lifelong career opportunities,” the company said in a statement.
The Caravel Group will use IMI's capabilities to provide stronger training for its 28,000 global workforce.
“By bringing IMI into The Caravel Group, we are ensuring that maritime professionals receive a world-class education, equipping them for successful careers at sea,” said Dr. Harry Banga, chairman and CEO of The Caravel Group.
The group said IMI will continue to develop ship officers, whilst introducing specialised courses in emerging maritime technologies, alternative fuels, and sustainability-driven operations.
