Muhibbah Marine delivered Two 62M AHTS to Jasa Merin

 

Muhibbah Marine Engineering Sdn Bhd (MME), a subsidiary of Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd, a public-listed company on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE), in its latest development, delivered two Anchor Handling Tugs Supply Vessels (AHTS) at MME's shipyard at Port Klang, West Malaysia.

Both AHTS are identical in specifications. They were named "JM GEMILANG" and "JM CEMERLANG" and were delivered to their owner, Jasa Merin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (JMM). These vessels were designed and built as dual-purpose vessels which can be utilized as Straight Supply Vessel (SSV) services and also anchor handling services. Driven by continuous demand for offshore support vessels, MME's Shipbuilding division continues to be busy.

The 62.0m vessels, each with a beam of 16.00m wide and a depth of 6.10m, have a total complement of 50 men. The vessels are designed to the highest standard of safety in accordance to Bureau Veritas "1+ HULL +MACH TUG", -SUPPLY VESSEL - FIRE FIGHTING SHIP 1 - WATER SPRAYING ANCHOR HANDLING TUG / OFFSHORE SUPPORT VESSEL LHNS-FLASH POINT > 600C -OIL PRODUCT, DYNAPOS AM, UNRESTRICTED NAVIGATION.

 

 

"JM GEMILANG" and "JM CEMERLANG" are fitted with Kongsberg DP1 Dynapos AM system. The propulsion package consisted of 2 x 2610BHP Yanmar Engines coupled to Reintjes Gearboxes, Berg Controllable Pitch Propellers and the Bow Thruster is fitted with Kawasaki 8MT transverse type thruster. Both vessels attained a performance speed of 13.2 knots during sea trials and a Bollard Pull in excess of 78 metric tonnes (at 100% MCR).

For over 25 years, Jasa Merin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd ("JMM") has been a provider of offshore support vessels ("OSV") which supports the offshore oil and gas Exploration and Production activities to oil majors. JMM also provides marine logistics services to the offshore oil and gas industry. JMM pursued an accelerated expansion program and is now one of the largest OSV-company in Malaysia.

Formed in 1996, MME operates as a shipyard in Port Klang, Malaysia. The yard is strategically located between Pulau Indah (West Port) and South Port. The yard has a deep water front with water depth of 18 metres. The 102m long drydock is able to dock vessels up to 5000 dwt and the slipway with capacity of up to 1000 mt.

Since its inception, MME has successfully constructed and delivered more than 150 vessels to both local and overseas clients. It is renowned for being a leader in marine construction. Today, Muhibbah also stands firm in the various disciplines of engineering construction, both locally and internationally.
