PIS and Indonesia govt ink cooperation boosting seafarers’ safety

This will streamline data sharing to improve the addressing of emergencies.

PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has signed a cooperation agreement with Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to improve efforts in ensuring the safety of seafarers.

“The agreement focuses on protection and emergency response services, ensuring stronger security measures for PIS personnel abroad,” the company said in a statement.

The agreement aims to enhance coordination, preparedness, and data-sharing between the company and government in handling emergencies affecting PIS staff worldwide.

"Through this agreement, data exchange between MoFA and PIS will be streamlined, allowing us to jointly determine the right steps in addressing emergency situations," said Deputy Foreign Minister Arief Havas Oegroseno.

PIS has 106 owned vessels operating across 65 international routes and more than 6,000 officers. It continues to expand business opportunities in the non-captive market, recording 4% growth in 2021 and projecting 19% by 2024.
