Samudera, Imoto launch Blue Ocean Shipping for Japan's market

Joint venture to launch in first half of 2026

Samudera Shipping Line Ltd (Samudera) and Imoto Corporation have collaborated to establish Blue Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd (Blue Ocean Shipping).

According to a joint statement, Blue Ocean Shipping will be dedicated to shipping activities in Japan. The joint venture is a collaborative partnership that brings together Samudera’s regional shipping experience and Imoto Lines’ deep expertise as one of Japan’s most established feeder operators.

Samudera Japan will hold 51% of Blue Ocean Shipping’s stakes whilst Imoto Corporation will hold 49%.

Blue Ocean Shipping will begin with the acquisition of two container vessels from Imoto Lines Group as its initial fleet.

Over time, the joint venture intends to grow its fleet prudently to capture suitable opportunities in Japan’s coastal and regional shipping services, according to their statement.

Blue Ocean Shipping is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2026 from their headquarters in Kobe, Japan.
