Energia Grandeur vessel beefs up MOL’s green fleet push

The vessel uses dual-fuel, cutting emissions significantly.

HD Hyundai Samho Co., Ltd. delivered the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dual-fuel Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) Energia Grandeur to MOL Energia Pte. Ltd. on 29 January 2026.

Measuring 230 metres in length and 32.25 metres in breadth, with a cargo tank capacity of 88,000 cubic metres, the VLGC employs dual-fuel technology for operation on LPG and heavy oil.

MOL noted that using LPG fuel reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 20% and sulfur oxide and particulate matter by 90% compared with heavy oil.

The vessel will operate under a time charter with CSSA Chartering and Shipping Services SA, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, MOL said.

Energia Grandeur transports LPG and ammonia, with a shaft generator providing power for operations. MOL utilised a transition-linked loan to finance the vessel.

The delivery supports the MOL Group’s "BLUE ACTION 2035" management plan and "Environmental Vision 2.2" programme, both targeting net-zero emissions by 2050.
