Shanghai Waigaoqiao to build two Suezmax tankers for Venergy Maritime

The deal supports fleet upgrades and global expansion.

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has signed a contract with Greek firm Venergy Maritime Limited to build two Suezmax crude oil tankers. China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd. also participated in the deal.

The signing marks the first partnership between SWS and Venergy.

For SWS, the partnership strengthens its global customer network, whilst for Venergy, it supports the company’s ongoing fleet modernisation efforts.

Both companies plan to use this cooperation as a foundation to explore broader opportunities in line with the shipping industry’s green transformation and digitalisation trends.
