Yantian Port launches one-stop cargo transfer service

Service supports over 100 international shipping routes weekly.

Yantian Port has launched a one-stop inland waterway cargo transfer service under a new multimodal customs clearance model to streamline export shipments, the government announced.

The first shipment under the new model was completed on 20 July, when a container carrying 480 TCL air conditioners arrived from Zhongshan Port via an inland waterway. After customs supervision, the container was loaded onto the OOCL Wisdom and departed for Poland.

The new system requires freight operators to submit only one multimodal cargo manifest and customs declaration for the entire journey, replacing the previous process that required customs clearance at multiple inland river terminals. It also allows mid-route cargo transfers and logistics route changes.

Deng Xiaopeng, an official from Shenzhen Customs' Port Clearance Supervision Division, said the model enables information sharing across customs districts, improving the efficiency and flexibility of import and export logistics.

To support the service, Shenzhen Customs has introduced a 24-hour response channel for real-time tracking of cargo declaration, transshipment, vessel loading, and departure.

Yantian Port operates 16 feeder routes linking ports across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, southwestern China, and central China, providing transshipment services for more than 100 international shipping routes each week.

Wu Chaojia, customs affairs manager at TCL Air Conditioner (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd., said the new service allows the company to adjust production capacity more flexibly and respond more quickly to customer orders during peak seasons, strengthening its competitiveness in the European market.
