NYK Line invests in MidOcean Energy to expand LNG portfolio
Transaction is set to close in 2026.
NYK will invest in United Kingdom-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) company MidOcean Energy through Diamond Gas MidOcean Limited (DGMO), strengthening its presence across the LNG value chain.
The investment will be made by subscribing to all shares issued under DGMO's third-party allotment. DGMO was established by Mitsubishi Corporation in 2023 and is expected to become jointly owned and operated by Mitsubishi Corporation and NYK following the transaction.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close between August and September 2026.
NYK said the investment supports its LNG growth strategy, adding to its existing investments in the Wheatstone LNG Project, Cameron LNG Project, LNG-fuelled vessel transportation, and LNG bunkering.
The company also plans to form a strategic partnership with MidOcean Energy in LNG marine transportation to support the company's LNG value chain.
