K LINE-backed vessel completes 200 LNG bunkering operations
Kaguya reached the milestone in Mikawa Bay on 30 September.
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K LINE) has reached 200 ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operations through its joint venture (JV) companies, with the vessel Kaguya completing the milestone in Mikawa Bay, Japan, on 30 September.
The vessel is owned and operated by Central LNG Shipping Japan Corporation and Central LNG Marine Fuel Japan Corporation, joint ventures (JVs) established by K LINE, JERA Global Energy Solutions Pte Ltd., Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation.
K LINE has operated its LNG bunkering business in Japan’s Chubu region through the JVs since October 2020.
Kaguya also began operating in October 2020 and was Japan’s first LNG bunkering vessel, according to the company.
The JVs supply LNG fuel to LNG-fuelled vessels, including K LINE’s car carrier Century Highway Green, which was delivered in March 2021.
K LINE said it would continue providing LNG bunkering services to contribute to the shipping industry’s decarbonisation and reduce its environmental impact.
