CSSC delivers ammonia dual-fuel bulk carrier to CMB.TECH

Eight companies collaborated on the vessel’s delivery.

CSSC CSTC and QBS have delivered Mineral Europa, a 210,000-deadweight tonne (DWT) Newcastlemax bulk carrier powered by ammonia dual-fuel technology, to CMB.TECH.

The vessel is the first of its kind globally, according to the companies.

Ammonia is being developed as an alternative fuel for large ocean-going vessels as the shipping industry seeks to reduce carbon emissions.

CMB.TECH, QBS, CSTC, Lloyd’s Register (LR), Anglo-Eastern, CSE, WinGD and Sunrui worked together on the vessel’s delivery.

CSSC said it will continue to expand its presence in the green and smart vessel market as the global shipping industry moves towards net-zero emissions.
