China Merchants taps Ascenz Marorka for eight LNG carriers

The ships are under construction in China.

China Merchants Energy Shipping has partnered with GTT and its smart shipping arm Ascenz Marorka for of eight 175,000 cubic metre LNG carriers.

In a statement, Ascenz Marorka said the vessels are under construction at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. in China.

The ships will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system, as well as Ascenz Marorka’s solutions, which include a range of on-board systems, a real-time vessel performance monitoring platform and associated services, LNG cargo management modules, and weather routing and voyage optimisation applications.

These vessels are the first LNG carriers fully owned and operated by China Merchants. The ships are scheduled for delivery between the end of 2025 and mid-2027.
