Cochin Shipyard to build six LNG-powered vessels in $219.78m 'Mega' project
Deal with CMA CGM classified as a "Mega" project with final delivery set for 64 months.
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a contract with CMA CGM for the construction of six feeder container vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEU and powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The contract was signed on 18 February 2026 in New Delhi and follows a Letter of Intent signed on 14 October 2025, according to a company filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange India.
The order is classified as a “Mega” project under CSL’s order categorisation, indicating a contract value of over $219.78m (IDR20b).
CSL said the first vessel is scheduled for delivery in 36 months and the last vessel within 64 months.
CSL stated in the filing that none of its promoters, promoter group, or group companies hold any interest in CMA CGM, and the order does not fall under related-party transactions.
