Dajin Heavy Industry to build two L-Class heavy lift ships for Jumbo
Each vessel will have 25,000 DWT capacity and methanol-ready design.
Dajin Heavy Industry will build two new 25,000 DWT heavy lift vessels for Jumbo under a new contract for its L-Class fleet.
Each vessel will be equipped with two 1,200-tonne heavy lift cranes supplied by Huisman, delivering a combined lifting capacity of 2,400 tonnes per ship. The vessels are designed with a focus on flexibility, featuring high deck strength, large open deck areas, increased cargo capacity, and deep cargo holds to accommodate complex heavy lift operations.
Jumbo said that the L-Class ships will be methanol-ready and energy efficient, aligning with modern clean-energy and regulatory standards, including compliance with DNV classification requirements. The vessels are intended to support a range of sectors, including offshore wind, oil and gas, mining, and other specialized marine transport operations.
Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for 2028, followed by the second in 2029.
Once completed, the new ships will join Jumbo’s fleet operating under the JSI Alliance, a joint commercial venture between Jumbo and SAL.
The alliance, expanded in 2024 with the addition of SAL Heavy Lift Intermarine, now manages a combined fleet of more than 80 vessels serving global project cargo and energy markets.
