DSIC to build 33,000 DWT deck carriers for NYK

These will be used for transportation of large modular equipment.

DSIC Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) has collaborated with NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. (NBP) to build 33,000 deadweight tonnage deck carriers.

In a statement, the company said the deck carriers will be used for the transportation of large modular equipment, such as offshore wind power equipment, petrochemical modules, and other ultra-large cargoes.

The vessel will be developed by Shanghai Shipbuilding Research & Design Institute (SSRDI) under CSIC, and DSIC is responsible for the production design and construction.

It is scheduled to be delivered in 2027.

"This cooperation not only highlights the high recognition of Chinese shipbuilding technology by international customers but also opens a new window for DSIC to connect with the Japanese high-end ship market,” said He Xu, Deputy General Manager of DSIC.
