ICTSI breaks ground on $800m mega-port in Philippines’ Luzon

The facility will have a terminal capacity exceeding two million TEUs annually.

The International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has officially launched the $800m South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT), the Philippines’ second largest terminal, according to a press release.

Located 110 kilometres south of Manila, it aims to expand the country’s trade capabilities and support industrial and manufacturing activities.

Phase 1 of construction includes marine works and construction of a 425-meter quay designed for super post‑Panamax operations.

The facility also features advanced equipment, including eight remote-controlled ship-to-shore cranes, 20 rail-mounted gantries, and 32 diesel-hybrid carriers and handlers.

At full development, SLCT will have an 800‑metre quay, 38 hectares of yard, 18‑metre berth depth, and a terminal capacity that will exceed two million TEUs annually.

Construction is scheduled from May to September 2027, with equipment delivery and installation targeted for August 2027.
