Imabari Shipbuillding completes 64,000-tonne bulk carrier

This has a speed of around 14 knots.

Imabari Shipbuillding Co., Ltd. has announced that its unit Iwaki Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has completed the construction of the  63,757-ton bulk carrier Pan Salus.

In a statement, Imabari said the vessel has a gross tonnage of 36,140 tonnes and has a maximum speed of about 14 knots. It is currently sailing under the flag of Panama.

The vessel is suitable for loading various types of cargo such as bulk cargoes, grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coil, and long-size steel. For more efficiency, it features wide cargo hatch openings with a folding-type hatch cover and four sets of deck cranes.

The Pan Salus is also designed with environmental compliance, featuring equipment and devices that meet regulations like the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, and the Ballast Water Management Convention.

It also surpasses current emission standards by meeting both the required Phase 2 carbon dioxide emission control indicators, and also the Phase 3 requirements.
