Jiangsu Dajin to build six cargo vessels for Carisbrooke Shipping
Vessels will feature Berg’s MPP950 propulsion system
Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry is set to build six multipurpose dry cargo vessels for Carisbrooke Shipping, with Berg Propulsion supplying the vessels’ integrated propulsion packages.
Designed by Dutch naval architecture firm Groot Ship Design, the 110-metre vessels, with a breadth of 15.45 metres and a design draught of 6.5 metres, are scheduled for delivery between Q3 2027 and Q1 2029.
The ships are based on the Groot 6600 XL design, modified to increase deadweight capacity above 7,000 tonnes whilst keeping gross tonnage below 5,000.
Each vessel will be fitted with Berg’s MPP950 main propulsion system, including a gearbox, shaft alternator, MPC800M remote-control system, and Dynamic Drive adaptive thrust and fuel optimisation software.
The system is designed to improve fuel efficiency by automatically balancing engine speed and propeller blade angle across different operating conditions.
