Midea, Hutchison Ports sign MoU to enhance port, logistics cooperation

YANTIAN named as the initial collaboration hub.

Midea Group and Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (Hutchison Ports) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand their global strategic partnership and strengthen supply chain operations.

The agreement was announced at the Shenzhen Port Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference 2026. Over the next two years, the companies will work together to improve logistics efficiency, enhance supply chain resilience, and support Midea's growing international operations.

The partnership combines Midea's expanding overseas manufacturing network with Hutchison Ports' global port operations, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Vietnam, and Mexico.

The companies said the collaboration will secure maritime logistics capacity for Midea while increasing cargo volumes across Hutchison Ports' terminals.

The initial phase will be centered at Yantian International Container Terminals (YANTIAN).

Under the agreement, the companies will integrate Midea's business systems with YANTIAN's terminal operating system to enable real-time data sharing and improve cargo handling efficiency. They will also explore green logistics solutions and sustainable transportation initiatives.

Hutchison Ports will provide Midea with priority cargo handling during peak shipping seasons to reduce delays and improve dispatch operations.

The partnership also includes the development of rail freight connections between inland China and YANTIAN, along with expanded logistics services such as container yard operations, warehousing, and other value-added services.

Moreover, Midea and Hutchison Ports plan to extend the partnership to other terminals within Hutchison Ports' global network as they pursue further green and digital logistics initiatives.
