MOL and GAIL deploy LNG vessel for stable India supply
The new LNG partnership strengthens India–Japan energy logistics ties.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and GAIL (India) Limited have entered into a long-term charter agreement for the deployment of LNG carrier GAIL BHUWAN, with the signing ceremony held on 27 January 2026 during India Energy Week 2026 in Goa.
GAIL and LNG Japonica Shipping Corporation Limited—a joint venture between MOL (74%) and GAIL (26%)—signed the agreement, further strengthening cooperation in LNG shipping and energy logistics.
Both MOL and GAIL have set net-zero emissions targets, and the partnership supports India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 as well as MOL’s BLUE ACTION 2035 sustainability strategy.
Under the agreement, MOL will provide stable LNG transportation services to support India’s growing natural gas demand and ensure a reliable energy supply.
