MOL, MAAP, and MAGSAYSAY launch dynamic positioning training centre in PH
The first training course will commence next month.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.’s (MOL) MOL Maritex Co., Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) and Magsaysay Training Center (MTC) for a Dynamic Positioning (DP) Training Centre in the Philippines.
In a statement, MOL said the centre will offer various training courses widely open to seafarers or engineers.
“The DP Training Centre will provide operational training for seafarers and engineers to meet the requirements for offshore wind power generation and for special vessels involved in offshore and ocean development,” MOL said.
The first training course is scheduled to commence on 1 September.
Some of the courses to be offered are DP Induction Course, DP Simulator Course, DP Sea Time Reduction Course, DP Revalidation / DP Refresher and Competency Assessment Course, and DP Vessel Maintainer Course.
The DP simulator used at the training centre is the same model installed on MOL's special vessels. This enables trainees to undergo training in an environment that closely replicates real ship operations.
“As the demand for DP operators continues to grow in the Philippines and the wider Asian region, providing essential skills to Filipino and other Asian seafarers and technicians is crucial for developing the human resources needed to support the growth of the offshore renewable energy sector,” MOL said.
