NYK and Yara ink deal for ammonia-fueled ship
This will be delivered in 2026.
Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Yara Clean Ammonia Switzerland SA have signed a time-charter contract for an ammonia-fueled medium gas carrier.
In a statement, NYK said the carrier will help in reducing marine transportation’s carbon emissions. It will also aid in developing a supply chain by providing a more environment-friendly means of ammonia transport as demand grows for its use in the power sector, and for marine fuel.
The 40,000 cubic metre vessel will have a length of 180 metres and a breadth of 32 meters.
Target delivery of the vessel is November 2026.
