OOCL launches 24,168 TEU methanol dual-fuel ship ‘OOCL Wisdom’s in green fleet push
It is the first of seven methanol dual-fuel ships planned by OOCL.
Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) has named OOCL Wisdom, its first methanol dual-fuel container vessel and the first in a series of seven ships aimed at supporting the company’s low-carbon shipping strategy.
OOCL Wisdom has a capacity of 24,168 TEU, making it currently the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container vessel. The ship is equipped with methanol dual-fuel systems for its main engines, auxiliary engines, and boilers, along with energy-efficiency management and intelligent monitoring systems.
The company said the vessel marks a milestone in the company’s technological innovation and low-carbon development efforts.
OOCL Chief Executive Officer Tao Weidong said the vessel will help expand the company’s fleet while improving efficiency, sustainability, and global shipping network coverage.
The naming ceremony took place at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard, where Cao Yanping, director of Fujian Yaohua Industrial Village Development Co., Ltd., officially named the vessel.
