Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) has completed the first green methanol bunkering of its first methanol dual-fuel containership, OOCL Wisdom, which has now begun its maiden voyage from Qingdao Port to Europe.
OOCL Wisdom is the first of seven methanol dual-fuel container vessels ordered by the company. With a capacity of 24,168 TEUs, it is currently the world's largest methanol dual-fuel container ship and will operate on the Asia–North Europe Loop 1 (LL1) service.
Peter Pan, OOCL Director of Trades, said the vessel's first green methanol bunkering and maiden voyage mark a milestone in the company's partnership with Shandong Port Group and support its fleet modernisation and decarbonisation efforts.
“OOCL will continue to remain customer‑focused, advance fleet upgrading and low‑carbon transition, and enhance service capabilities, providing safer, more reliable and sustainable logistics solutions to support the continued growth of global trade,” he said.
