Priya Blue anchors ship recycling expansion in Bahrain

The Indian recycler relocated capacity towards the Gulf viaits Bahrain partnership.

Priya Blue and the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) have formed a joint venture to establish a ship recycling facility in Bahrain, where the facility will provide dry dock, slipway, and recycling services.

In a LinkedIn post, Priya Blue said that the facility will process vessels up to ultra large crude carrier size, along with floating production storage and offloading units, floating storage and offloading units, oil rigs, and other offshore assets.

The partnership combines Priya Blue’s ship recycling operations in Alang, India, with ASRY’s shipyard infrastructure and offshore capabilities.

It also marks Priya Blue’s first international expansion beyond South Asia.

The venture will operate in alignment with the Hong Kong Convention on Ship Recycling and the EU Ship Recycling Regulation.
