Relocation of Oil Spill Response Equipment Stockpile Base in Singapore
Petroleum Association of Japan (PAj) improves the capability of oil spill response in the Malacca/Singapore Straits.
From 28th February 1995, PAJ has transferred its Oil Spill Response Equipment stockpile Base in Singapore from Jurong East, the warehouse of Nippon Express (S) Pte Ltd, to Jurong Shipyard, the premises of SEMCO Salvage & Marine Ltd.
With co-operation of SEMCO, Idemitsu International (ASIA) Pte Ltd and Idemitsu Tanker (S) Pte Ltd, will maintain the stockpile and receive the emergency contacts.
Users of the equipment could ask assistance of IDEMITSU and SEMCO including deployment and transportation in the event of major oil spill.
The Stockpile Base in Singapore was established on 16th March 1993, as a first overseas stockpile for PAJ, in order to contribute to effective response to major oil spill incidents in the region.
In case of major oil spill incidents, PAJ will lend equipment, free of charge, at the request by Government Agencies/Parties concern.
Equipment of the stockpile are as follows:
1) Oil Boom (Vikoma Hi-Sprint 1500): 1,000 m (4 containers.
2) Oil Skimmer (Desmi- 250): 4 units (4 containers)
3) Portable Tank(FASTANK): 8 units
