Sembawang Engineering Successfully Delivers US$50 Million Process Deck Module for Arco China Inc.
Sembawang Engineering Pte Ltd (SEPL) has demonstrated its strength in the construction of offshore platforms for China with the successful completion of a US$50 million process deck for Arco China Inc. To be located in China's Yacheng field, the process deck will produce approximately 300 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Weighing 5,300 tonnes, the three -level process deck measures more than 100 ft high, 200 ft long and 100 ft wide and was completed fully assembled on ground. Due to the intricate nature of the construction, the east west portions of the deck were disassembled on loading onto the barge, the east deck was first loaded onto the barge on 9th April 1995 followed by the west deck on 14th April 1995.
The entire deck left SEPL's yard together with an accompanying 36-men living quarters, bridge and vent boom on 24th April 1995. The structures will head towards the Yacheng Field, 60 miles southeast of Hainan Island, People's republic of China where they will be installed, hooked up and undergo commissioning works. The project is expected to be completed in June 1995. Most of the natural gas produced by the process deck will be piped to Hongkong to fuel a gas-fired power plant through 800 km of submarine pipeline.
SEPL executed the project professionally and performed the full range of works on the structures ranging from engineering, procurement, fabrication, hook up and commissioning. SEPL has to date delivered more than 100 offshore oil/gas platforms to various clients in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.
SEPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of listed Sembawang Corporation Ltd.
