Yangzhou COSCO delivers Aegean Shipping’s 114,000-DWT tanker

Vessel has an optimised cargo arrangement.

Greek shipowner Aegean Shipping’s 114,000-deadweight tonne (DWT) LR2 product and crude oil tanker CANIVER was delivered by Yangzhou COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in September and classified by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV).

The vessel was chartered to Vitol International Shipping upon delivery and will operate in the global oil products transportation market, with no restrictions on its navigation areas.

CANIVER uses a BV-approved LR2 tanker design developed from the classification society’s expertise in tanker standards, regulatory compliance and design optimisation. Its features include an efficient hull shape, an optimized cargo layout and environmental technologies intended to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The tanker received the CLEANSHIP and GREEN PASSPORT class notations for meeting BV requirements on pollution prevention, emissions management and waste handling. Its design also exceeds applicable MARPOL requirements and supports efforts to make shipping operations more sustainable.
