Raytheon Anschütz announces Synapsis NX Contracts
During SMM, the German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz highlights the delivery of the new NX generation Synapsis Integrated Navigation Systems (INS), among others to two newly built chemical tankers. The Synapsis INS will be delivered type-approved according to IMO's new INS performance standards MSC.252(83) and IEC 61924-2.
These new customers showcase the flexibility of the newly introduced Synapsis NX architecture, adaptable for a variety of ships and customers. The Synapsis NX architecture is based on the ultra-compact and powerful Small Marine Computer, which serves as the standard hardware platform for all bridge applications. Software modules for (chart-) radar, ECDIS or conning—each featuring the enhancements of the latest Synapsis software version—can be added to scale the workstation from a stand-alone workplace for radar or ECDIS up to a fully integrated multifunctional workstation, with the option for simple upgrades and extensions whenever operational requirements may change. The new NautoPlex data collector completes the backbone of the new Synapsis NX network infrastructure, which sets new standards in simplicity and scalability of bridge navigation systems.
Raytheon Anschütz will supply Integrated Navigation Systems based on the new Synapsis NX architecture for two new 50,000 dwt chemical/product tankers. The tankers are built for the Spanish shipowner Marflet Marine at Croatian 3. Maj shipyard. The scope of supply includes four Synapsis multifunctional workstations, the new NautoScan NX network radar transceivers, the NautoSteer AS steering control system including NP 5000 autopilot system, as well as the complete sensor system and radio equipment.
In addition to this, Raytheon Anschütz already holds 14 contracts for Integrated Navigation Systems that include the new Synapsis NX generation, including container ships, mega yachts, offshore support vessels, and anchor handling tugs. These contracts were awarded even before official marketing started and underline the flexibility for customer- and ship-type specific adaptations Raytheon Anschütz can offer with the newly introduced Synapsis NX architecture.
Raytheon Anschütz has contracted more than 100 Synapsis INS since its market launch two years ago. The Synapsis INS provides full integration of sensor data and other information such as AIS, NAVTEX, charts, radar, centralized alarm management, system status display, and reliability indication for important sensors. An innovative software framework as part of each workstation concentrates all services and tasks of the navigation system.
