PIL commences construction for 13,000 TEU LNG dual-fuelled ship

There will be five of these vessels to be delivered.

Construction of Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd’s first 13,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit LNG dual-fuel container vessel has commenced.

In a statement, the company said this is the first of five such vessels ordered from Chinese shipbuilder Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding in August 2024.

These new vessels will incorporate the latest technological and energy-saving features, as well as dual-fuel engines and auxiliaries to run on both LNG and low-sulphur fuel oil. These will also be equipped with artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things for the automation of tasks.

The ships will be progressively delivered from end-2026.

“Together with our 13 other LNG dual-fuel container vessels, these upcoming 13,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships are testament to our ‘Future-Focused’ commitment in minimising our environmental footprint,” Pacific International said.
