JSL Completes 2 Workover Rigs for Act Operators Group
Jurong Shipyard Ltd (JSL) has recently completed fabrication of two units of workover rigs, namely HZ-32-2 and HZ-32-3, for ACT Operators Group (comprising AGIP (Overseas) Ltd, Chevron Overseas Petroleum Ltd, and Texaco Petroleum Maatscchappi] (Nederland) b.v.) The US$11.3 million contract was awarded to the LSJSL Consortium (a partnership between Lanzhou Petroleum & Chemical Machinery Work of People's Republic of China (LS) and JSL) by the main turnkey contractor Sembawang Engineering-Heeremac Co Consortium (SHC) amidst keen international competition.
The workover rig comprises three main structures, namely the Skid Base, Substructure and Drill Floor, and the Pipe Rack. A high Derrick was erected on the Drill floor. Major equipment that were installed included Draw works, Mud/Gas Separator, Choke, Kill & Cement Manifolds, Pumps, Air Winches, Lift & Roll Skidding System, Hydraulic Power Unit, Blowout Prevention Control System, Mud Pumps, Shale shaker, compressed Air System, Agitators, Brine Hopper, accumulator and Driller's Instrumentation. The Contractor equipment Building, drilling Office, Toolhouse Building, Dog House Building and the Mud Tanks were also erected on the workover rig.
For safety and accessibility, stairways and ladders, handrails, walkways and access platforms were erected around the rig. In addition, guides and bumpers were erected to prevent damage to the Main Structures during offshore installation. A Service Arm System was also installed between the Pipe Rack and the Substitute and Drill Floor to connect the piping system.
The workover rigs underwent testing and onshore precommissioning by Lloyds Registry of Shipping. They were then shipped offshore where they were installed onto the main platform and successfully commissioned at the Huizhou 32 Oilfield in the South China Sea.
