Dalian Shipbuilding delivers 16,000 TEU vessel MSC Salerno

It is currently the largest Panamax container ship of its generation.

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd has delivered MSC Salerno, a 16,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) LNG-fueled containership built for Mediterranean Shipping Company.

The Chinese shipbuilder said this was achieved 93 days ahead of the contractual schedule.

As the largest Panamax container ship of its generation, the vessel carries over 16,196 TEUs and 1,800 reefer containers. It incorporates energy-saving equipment, including high-efficiency propeller-rudder systems and bow thrusters, alongside technologies such as air lubrication systems and a 4-megawatt shaft generator.

The vessel is also equipped with a WinGD dual-fuel main engine, ICER, and water treatment system, all of which comply with the latest marine emission standards.
