Imabari Shipbuilding delivers new 64,000-ton carrier

The vessel was built at the Shin Kasado Dockyard.

Imabari Shipbuilding has announced the completion and delivery of the 64,000-ton bulk carrier FEDERAL INTREPID built in the group’s Shin Kasado Dockyard Co., Ltd.

“This vessel is an ocean-going handy-max size bulk carrier applying the Common Structural Rules (CSR BC &OT),” the company said.

Each cargo hold has topside and hopper tanks, making it suitable for loading various types of cargo such as grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coil, long-size steel, etc. It also has wide cargo hatch openings with the folding-type hatch cover and four (4) sets of deck cranes for enhanced handling efficiency.

This vessel achieves high propulsion performance by applying the energy-saving devices, a high-efficiency propeller, low low-friction paint for outer hull plating.
