India’s Paradip Port Authority achieves 4.78 % increase in cargo throughput

Nearly half of the total volume is coal cargo.

The Paradip Port of Odisha has recorded a 4.78 % increase in its cargo throughput in fiscal year 2025-2026, to breach the 100 million metric tonne (MMT) mark for the ninth consecutive year.

According to India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the port achieved a cargo throughput of 100.15 MMT during the latest fiscal year, thanks to faster operations, system improvements and consistent support from stakeholders. Growth in coastal thermal coal, container cargo, Gypsum & Flux, POL and Steel cargo has strengthened PPA’s position as a leading coastal shipping hub.

Coal cargo handling accounted for around 45% of total cargo volume, reflecting a 3.76% growth. Also recording growth were containerised cargo volume up 32%, gypsum & Flux volume up 24%, steel cargo up 35% and POL up 31%.
