NYK launches Japan's first home-built CTV

The 28-metre vessel will support construction and maintenance of offshore wind facilities.

NYK has launched the first Japan-made crew transfer vessel Alfonsino Arrow.

In a statement, the company said the ceremony was held at Kosaba Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture.

The 28-metre vessel is the first CTV ordered by NYK from a Japanese shipyard. This is scheduled to transport personnel involved in the construction and maintenance of offshore wind power facilities within Japan.

“Through its initiatives in the offshore wind power generation sector, NYK is committed to ensuring the safe and reliable supply of electricity within Japan, as well as revitalising the shipbuilding industry and related sectors,” the company said.
