Nam Cheong wins $64.5m UAE contracts for autonomous and subsea vessels
The contract includes two unmanned landing crafts to be built at Miri Yard.
Singapore-listed Nam Cheong Limited has secured $64.5m in shipbuilding contracts from a United Arab Emirates-based global energy maritime logistics company, the company announced on 24 February 2026.
The contracts cover four offshore support vessels (OSVs): two 60-metre Dive Support Vessels (DSVs) and two 60-metre Remote Operated Landing Crafts (ROLCs).
The vessels are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2027 and early 2028 with all four OSVs to be constructed at Nam Cheong’s Miri Yard in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The DSVs are designed to support complex subsea operations, including diving support, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support, and underwater inspections.
The ROLCs will be fully unmanned and remotely operated via satellite connection from a shore station. These vessels are among the first of their kind to be built at the Miri Yard.
Nam Cheong said the contracts reflect its shipbuilding capabilities developed over six decades and are expected to contribute to the company’s earnings from 2026 to 2028, subject to contract conditions.
Since 2007, Nam Cheong has delivered over 150 vessels, including anchor handling, towing supply vessels, platform supply vessels, and accommodation work barges.
