Port of Hamburg opens Dubai office to boost Gulf trade
Hamburg holds 80% market share with the UAE.
Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) has opened a new representative office in Dubai to strengthen its presence in the Gulf, a key hub connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Container traffic between Hamburg and the UAE, Red Sea, and Gulf region rose 28.8% in the first nine months of 2025 to around 130,000 TEU.
Hamburg holds nearly 80% market share with the UAE among German ports. New and expanded liner services signal continued growth.
The Gulf is also emerging as a hub for renewable energy. Investments in solar, wind, and green hydrogen are creating new opportunities for Hamburg as a handling port for project cargo and future green energy imports.
The Hamburg Representative Office UAE and Gulf Region will serve as a contact point for Hamburg companies and HHM members.
Its partners include the Hamburg Senate Chancellery, Ministry of Economy, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg Tourism, Hamburg Messe und Congress, and Port of Hamburg Marketing.
The office will also focus on building partnerships to strengthen supply chains and reinforce Hamburg’s position as a global port.
