India resolves 90% of port congestion after geopolitical delays
The government directed that all financial relief measures be passed without delay.
India has cleared nearly 90% of the backlog cargo across major ports impacted by geopolitical disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said.
In a press release, the ministry said officials informed that major ports such as Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Deendayal Port Authority, New Mangalore Port Authority and Mumbai Port have largely cleared cargo.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal, said that timely intervention and continuous monitoring ensured the rapid stabilisation of port operations.
The minister directed all port authorities to ensure that financial relief measures, including waivers on ground rent and concessions on reefer charges, are passed without delay.
