Singapore, Princess Cruises to double sailings by 2030 in 3-year deal

Diamond, Sapphire, and Grand Princess ships will operate up to 28-day voyages.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Princess Cruises have agreed to a three-year deployment plan that will expand cruise operations from the city-state and position it as a regional homeport for Asia-Pacific (APAC) sailings.

STB said in a press release that the agreement covers 2027 to 2030 and includes the deployment of three ships—Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess, and Grand Princess—from Singapore, with sailings expected to double by 2030.

The programme is projected to carry more than 150,000 passengers and is supported by STB’s Cruise Development Fund.

Princess Cruises will operate itineraries ranging from 10 to 28 days, including round-trip sailings from Singapore to destinations in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, alongside longer voyages between Singapore and Japan.

The itineraries will also include shore excursions in locations such as Langkawi, Hoi An, and Kaohsiung.

The partnership targets growth in fly-cruise traffic into Singapore, including passengers from markets such as Australia, the UK, and the US.

The arrangement aims to support Singapore’s role as a cruise homeport and strengthen tourism linked to international fly-cruise traffic.

Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of Experience Development Group at STB said the deployment supports its Tourism 2040 plans and its focus on expanding tourism products and cruise capacity.

Matthew Rutherford, Vice President of APAC at Princess Cruises, said the agreement supports its APAC strategy and its plans to increase regional deployment.

Singapore will also promote pre- and post-cruise stays to extend visitor trips beyond sailings.
