Seatrium wins approval for 30MW floating data centre concept

Features six modular 5MW data centre units.

Seatrium has received approval in principle (AiP) from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for its 30 MW self-powered Floating Data Centre concept.

The approval validates Seatrium's proprietary Data-In-A-Box™ SeaDC™ solution, which consists of six independent 5 MW modules deployed on a jetty-moored, non-propelled barge. Each module integrates IT equipment, cooling systems, power distribution, and supporting infrastructure.

Seatrium said the concept uses modular construction, natural seawater cooling, embedded power generation, and flexible offshore siting to provide scalable, relocatable, and energy-efficient computing capacity for AI, cloud, and digital infrastructure.

Seatrium is also developing Floating Data Centre solutions of 100 MW and above, expanding the concept beyond the 30 MW reference design to support hyperscale deployment and address land, energy, and cooling constraints in coastal markets.

The development follows a strategic memorandum of understanding signed with Bureau Veritas during Singapore Maritime Week earlier this year.
