Two Seatrium oil units to lift Petrobras’ Búzios capacity by 34%

Each vessel is designed to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day.

Seatrium’s two floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels are expected to increase production capacity at Brazilian oil giant Petrobras’ Búzios field by about 34%, adding 450,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) when operations begin in 2027.

The vessels, P-80 and P-82, will become the ninth and tenth FPSOs operating in the Búzios field development.

Each unit is designed to produce 225,000 bopd and process 12 million cubic metres of gas per day. 

Búzios, Petrobras’ largest field by reserves and production, has already surpassed 1.2 million bopd, according to its President Magda Chambriard.

"Along with the oil they will produce, these platforms will bring to Brazil the results of a strong partnership between Petrobras and Seatrium, between Brazil and Singapore,” Chambriard said.

Each FPSO also has water injection capacity of about 250,000 bopd and oil storage capacity of approximately 2.5 million barrels.

P-80 and P-82 are Seatrium’s 47th and 48th projects for Petrobras and its second and third turnkey FPSOs under Petrobras’ P-Series model, following the sailaway of P-78 in 2025.

Seatrium CEO Chris Ong said the company is now focused on commissioning the two vessels offshore. 

Three more P-Series FPSOs remain at Seatrium’s facilities, Ong added.
