Drydocks World, Cochin Shipyard establish ship repair JV in India

Expanded facility will serve Indian, regional, and international customers.

Drydocks World, a DP World company, and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed a 50:50 joint venture agreement to operate and expand the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) in Cochin, India.

The joint venture follows a memorandum of understanding signed during India Maritime Week 2025 to explore cooperation in ship repair and related maritime services.

Under the agreement, the partners will operate, consolidate and expand the ISRF to increase capacity and serve Indian, regional and international customers.

The partnership will combine CSL’s shipbuilding, ship repair and engineering capabilities with Drydocks World’s experience in vessel repair and maintenance, major conversions and offshore engineering, procurement and construction.

The facility, located along major international shipping routes, has a ship lift system and docking facilities for various types of vessels.

The joint venture will also create opportunities in ship repair, engineering, fabrication and related maritime services in Kerala.

Drydocks World and CSL will each hold a 50% stake, with the initial capital funded through equity contributions from both companies.

The agreement was signed by Drydocks World CEO Captain Rado Antolovic and CSL Chairman and Managing Director Jose V J on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

The signing was witnessed by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology Omran Sharaf Alhashimi.
