Atlantis Shipyard Launched 6,500dwt Oil Product Tanker
Atlantis Shipyard Pte Ltd (ATLANTIS) received its achievement of the ISO 9002 Certification award on 18th January 1995 and launched a 7,200 dwt oil product tanker - 'Alpha Prosperity' - on the same day.
Barely days after its double celebration, and with the completion of Hull 1014, ATLANTIS, christened a 6,500 dwt oil product tanker - 'Ocean Eagle' - on the 26th January 1995.
Classed by Det Norske Veritas, 'Alpha Prosperity', a custom- designed single screw oil tanker is owned by Factors Alpha Shipping Singapore Pte Ltd, a member of the ECICS Group.
With the successful completion of Hull 1014, 'Ocean Eagle' is the 14th vessel built by ATLANTIS and the second oil product tanker built for its owner, Ocean Tankers This represents confidence of the owner to award the contract to ATLANTIS - an achievement for ATLANTIS.
'Ocean Eagle' a custom-designed vessel classed by NKK, is powered by a single screw 3000 bhp Daihatsu main engine. The vessel is fitted with modern and highly sophisticated equipment and facilities. These include 3 main engine-driven cargo pumps, all remote controlled from the cargo control room, 2 x 3T SWL deck hose handling cranes on the port and starboard side, and a computerised gauging system. The deck equipment is supplied by Plimsoll Fleetwinch Pte Ltd.
'Alpha Prosperity' and 'Ocean Eagle' are designed by Kenton Marine Pte Ltd.
Mr Toh Ho Tay, Chairman of ATLANTIS, said, "With the completion of Hull 1014, the recognition of ATLANTIS as a growing newbuilding yard can be seen in our successful securing of contracts to build a further 6 more new product tankers up to Hull 1020."
Atlantis, a medium-sized shipyard provide shiprepairing, shipbuilding as well as offshore and in industrial engineering projects.
The facilities in Atlantis include a 25,000-dwt floating dock, 155 metres long and 24 metres wide. Atlantis, has recently acquired a new floating dock measuring 110m x 22m with a lifting capacity up to 5000 tons to cater for the smaller vessels.
ATLANTIS is jointly owned by Neptune Orient Lines Ltd (50%), Jurong Shipyard Ltd (35%) and Singapore shipbuilding & Engineering Ltd (15%).
