BV classes dual-fuel carrier AICC FENGHUANG
The vessel can carry 7,000 standard vehicles across 12 decks, including 4 liftable decks.
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has classed the China-built AICC FENGHUANG, a dual-fuel pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).
The vessel was designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and built at Wuhu Shipyard Co., Ltd for intercontinental shipping.
“Delivered on 29 September, the vessel will serve as a low-carbon, eco-friendly model at sea and play a vital role in supporting China’s rapidly growing global automotive exports,” BV said in a statement.
AICC FENGHUANG measures 199.9 metres in length and 38 metres in beam, and offers capacity for 7,000 standard vehicles across 12 decks, including 4 liftable decks. The ship can accommodate passenger cars, trucks, construction machinery, and new energy vehicles, meeting rising global demand for efficient, lower-carbon automotive logistics.
Amongst its features are a dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG)/fuel oil propulsion system with two 2,000 cubic meter LNG C-type tanks, enabling flexible fuel use and significant reductions in emissions.
“The AICC FENGHUANG illustrates how the pure car and truck carrier segment is advancing toward cleaner and smarter operations,” said Matthieu de Tugny, executive vice president, Industrials and Commodities at Bureau Veritas.
