GasEntec wins Lloyd’s Register approval for LNG FSRU

FSRU features a multi-mode regasification system.

GasEntec has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register for its 1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) design.

The AiP follows Lloyd’s Register’s independent review of the design’s technical and safety fundamentals and was presented at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok on 14 September.

The FSRU features a multi-mode regasification system that supports closed-loop, open-loop and combined-loop operations. GasEntec said the design is built to operate in varying and extreme weather conditions while reducing environmental impacts.

The FSRU would be amongst the two largest in the world by send-out capacity.

GasEntec said its RegasTainer modular regasification technology can be configured for different send-out capacities, pressures and operating conditions.

“This FSRU delivers a common modular platform that can be configured for different capacities, pressures and operating conditions, enabling efficient project specific engineering and faster deployment,” said TG Kim, co-chief operating officer, at GasEntec. “As energy demand accelerates around the world, from grid growth to AI data center driven power needs, the constraint isn't supply; it's how quickly and reliably you can get gas to where it's needed.”

The AiP is GasEntec’s first from Lloyd’s Register. The company said it will use the approval to advance the FSRU design towards execution and support projects for FSRU owners and developers.
