Green shipping service debuts as PIL, PSA, and DNV link platforms

Verified fuel credits now move across ports and vessels in the Singapore logistics chain.

Pacific International Lines (PIL) and PSA International (PSA) have launched Singapore’s first joint land-sea green value-added shipping service, supported by DNV, to reduce Scope 3 emissions for cargo transhipped through the Port of Singapore.

In a joint press release, they said the service enables participating shippers and cargo owners to receive verified emissions reductions through the allocation of carbon savings generated from lower-carbon fuels used across maritime, port, and landside transport operations.

The initiative builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2025 to develop carbon emissions measurement and reporting in the maritime sector, with trials scheduled to begin in May.

Under the model, PIL contributes emissions reductions through vessel operations, fuel choices, and voyage execution, whilst PSA supports emissions reduction through port and landside logistics operations linked to cargo flows.

DNV provides digital systems to standardise emissions data and independently verify reported carbon reductions.

The companies said the service is designed to support end-to-end supply chain emissions reduction for participating cargo owners.

Lionel Patrice Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer of PIL, said the approach links emissions reductions directly to business activity and offers access to lower-carbon shipping options.

Eddy Ng, Group Head of Operations, Technology and Sustainability at PSA, said the collaboration supports maritime decarbonisation and reinforces Singapore’s role in sustainable maritime and energy solutions.

Mikkel Skou, Executive Director of Veracity by DNV, said the initiative uses a data ecosystem to enable measurement and verification of emissions reductions across shipowners, ports, and cargo stakeholders.
