Imabari Shipbuilding delivers LNG-fueled car carrier ‘Lazulite Ace’

It cuts CO₂ emissions by about 25 to 30%.

Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has delivered the Lazulite Ace, a 7,000-car LNG-fueled vehicle carrier built by its group company Tadotsu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

The vessel is designed to reduce emissions compared with conventional heavy-oil ships. Using LNG fuel and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, it cuts CO₂ emissions by about 25 to 30%, SOx emissions by nearly 100%, and NOx emissions by 80 to 90%.

The ship also uses boil-off gas (BOG) from its LNG tanks to power onboard generators and boilers, improving energy efficiency.

Inside the cargo hold, a bulkheadless layout with wider straight-line ramps simplifies vehicle movement, improving safety and cargo handling.

A liftable deck system allows the vessel to carry both passenger cars and taller cargo such as trucks and trailers.
