Deliveries are scheduled by 2030 under long-term charter arrangements.
Japan-based Sakura Ocean Corporation has signed shipbuilding contracts for its first three bulk carriers, marking the company's first fleet development project since its establishment in January 2026.
The contracts cover one 40-type bulk carrier to be built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., one 40-type bulk carrier to be built by Onomichi Dockyard Co., Ltd., and one 42-type bulk carrier to be built by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., with all three vessels due for delivery by 2030.
In a statement, the company said the vessels will operate under long-term charter arrangements with domestic shipping companies and other customers.
Established by a consortium comprising Shoei Kisen Kaisha Ltd., Onomichi Dockyard Co., Ltd., Kambara Kisen Co., Ltd., and Somec Corporation, Sakura Ocean focuses on vessel ownership and operation.
The contracts establish the foundation of its initial fleet and mark the first project under the Sakura Ocean initiative.
The project aims to build a fleet that supports maritime transportation and contributes to the development of Japan's maritime industry.
