Late Night Launching at Greenbay
GREENBAY MARINE PTE LTD a local shipyard, has recently launched a fast passenger ferry late at night at its Pioneer Sector yard in Jurong.
It is not an uncommon practice in the marine industry in Singapore to coincide with the highest tide to launch the vessel.
The 32-metre fast passenger ferry was built for its owner, Kalpin Tours Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Sembawang Maritime Ltd, for its operation between Singapore and Batam, Indonesia.
The fully air-conditioned Twin Deck passenger ferry is one of a fleet of ferries serving both terminals at Singapore and Batam.
Passengers travelling in 'AUTO BATAM 12', enjoy the comfort of the 168-seat highback cloth upholstered seats on the Main Deck and 32-seat in non-upholstered GRP seats on the Upper Deck.
'AUTO BATAM 12', certified Special Limit Passenger Vessel by Singapore Marine Department, has a loaded speed of 29 knots with a range of 200 Nm.

Its main propulsion system comprises of 3 x MTU 12v 183TE72 (c/w 3 x ZF BW 190 gearbox) high speed marine diesel engines each developing 610 Kw coupled to 1 KaMeWa Waterjet FF 450 and two fixed pitch propellers via reverse reduction gearboxes.
