Midwest CD Stud Welding Systems

The CD Contact Welding is the simplest and most common method of CD PIN/STUD welding. Practically fool-proof, it produces no reverse side marking in most cases and is suitable for most commercial, industrial and marine applications.

The CD PIN/STUD Welding Systems come in two models: MA-55 and MA-75. Both models have a weld rate of 24 studs per minute and are equipped with these standard accessories :-
* 1 piece contact weld Gun with 6m length weld cable and control cable.
* 1 piece 5m power cable.
* 1 piece 3m ground cable with double clamps.

The gun must be set-up with the proper accessories for the length and diameter stud you are going to weld.

The PIN/STUD is first placed in contact with the base material. Verify that the gun is held perpendicular to the work. Pulling the trigger discharges the capacitors through the stud which vaporizes the tip. An arc is briefly sustained which melts the stud base surface, and the work surface directly underneath the stud. The spring pressure in the gun then forces the stud into the molten pool, completing the weld in approximately six milliseconds.

CD PIN/STUD weld can be visually inspected by observing the fillet at the base of the stud.

CD PIN/STUD and base metal combination welding generally achieved full strength results, depending upon the combination of stud size and base metal.

Highly contaminated work surface that are rusted, oily and badly scaled can now be CD welded by specially designed Insulation weld pins.

The "Power-Point" pins is specifically made for retro-fitting and repairs of rockwool and fibre glass insulated surfaces. Its unique "Tear-drop" tip dissipates a high energy are to vaporise any contamination surrounding the weld area hence ensuring a deep penetrative weld.
