Mineral Insulated Cables for Long-term Security
The mineral insulated cable is a concept developed, manufactured and marketed under the name of Pyrotenax. Designed to operate at temperatures of up to 1,000°C in the event of fire, Pyrotenax mineral insulated cables are the only cables abe to offer maximum security in terms of thermal mechanical and electric performance as well as resistance to ageing.
Pyrotenax cables comprise one or more cores embedded in magnesium and compressed in a copper sheath. The high-security cables offer a nominal voltage of 500, 750 or 1,000 volts and be covered with fire- resistant PVC or a non- halogen emitting material.
Pyrotenax cables are fire-resistant and are thus classed in category CR1 of standard NFC 32070. They also satisfy the requirements of categories C2 and C1 of the same standard since they do not propagate fire or flames. The cables can therefore be installed in alarm and information systems, emergency telephones, lifts and emergency exit lightning.
Pyrotenax cables have a broad field of application; sectors with high standards of hygiene; high temperature zones and high- risk areas such as oil refineries thermal and nuclear power plants and the chemical industry.
